Ristech West at Library Conferences
Well – April and May were busy months for us all! We exhibited at two important library conferences – BCLA in Vancouver and ALC in Jasper.
Ristech’s Booth at BCLA Library Conference
Exhibiting at Library Conferences is a great way for us to meet our current clients. We have been working with some of them for many years and they automatically look for us at our booth. It’s a chance to chat, catch up and to see what is new in their libraries. Are they renovating, so need some of our Palmieri furniture, Canadian made and manufactured to the highest quality?
Do they have any new digitization plans for scanning microfilm, microfiche, records, rare books or archival materials? We show them the latest scanning equipment. They also see a demo if they haven’t checked out the book scanner or microfilm scanner before.
Are they planning on installing RFID gates or needing RFID tags and tape – so we can see what supplies they need?
It’s also great to see new faces at the library conferences There we are able to make new connections and keep up-to-date with everyone’s plans! Librarians are such a great group of people and we love working with them.

Don Steacy, owner and Digital Specialist is such a fountain of information for all scanning needs. His current and new clients enjoy having a ‘tech talk’ at the booth. It’s good for them to hear about the latest developments in scanning technology and see our scanning equipment due to so many changes.
It was a reunion of sorts for Anne-Marie as she had not been at the ALC or BCLA library conferences for a while! Her previous clients were surprised and pleased to see her at the booth and back in the library world. She filled them in on her new position as Sales Consultant in British Columbia representing both the digital scanning equipment and furniture, storage and shelving products.
Most of all, the ALC and BCLA library conferences were very successful for us and we are looking forward to exhibiting again at both of them in 2018.

Welcome to our first blog! We thought it a good idea to introduce you to our team at Ristech West.
Don Steacy
Don Steacy is the owner of Ristech West. Let’s go back to where it all started with Don leaving 3M back in 1995 where he was a Document Systems sales representative for twelve years. 3M was the only company he ever worked for since finishing University, having worked there for twelve years. However, the end of his 3M career marked the beginning of a new business venture. Twenty-two years later and Don has built Ristech West into a thriving business. He has helped many educational institutions, Governments, Public Libraries and Corporations bridge the gap between the past and present by providing easy to use imaging technologies that keep history accessible. His knowledge of scanning equipment in an ever-changing technological world is second to none. Did you know? Don was a professional, competitive water skier and still water skis and downhill skis today!
Anne-Marie Freeman
We are pleased to welcome Anne-Marie Freeman who recently joined the Ristech West team as their Sales Consultant for British Columbia. Anne-Marie has worked in the library industry for the past twelve years, previously with Emerald Publishing and then ProQuest, managing Academic, Public, Government and Health library accounts across Canada and Western States. For Ristech Anne-Marie will be consulting on both the digital scanning equipment and Palmieri furniture in BC. Anne-Marie admits that she is a bookaholic and can’t walk past a cat or dog without saying hi!
Sharn Pitcher
Holding us all together is Sharn Pitcher, our Administrator. Sharn has been sharing her expertise with Ristech West for the past five years. She supports us in Sales at every level, always there for us! Sharn also very efficiently takes care of all our wonderful clients, from accounting, customer enquiries, invoicing, competently handling any issues that arise, client services and more. She is a self-professed workaholic, who doesn’t like sitting around. Oh – and she loves gardening and taking care of her family.
